Dining Arrangements according to service area standards
1. Space between Rows of Rectangle Tables
The minimum spacing ( in inch ) needed for rows of tables when a service aisle is not needed. 52" inches from table to table 18" inch is allowed for each chair, and 16" inch is the minimum space in between chairs.
2. Spacing Rectangle tables incorporating a service aisle
For the rows, the space needed in between the rows is 66" inches. This is 2×18" for the chairs, and 30" for the service aisle.
3. Diagonal Restaurant layout with Square Tables
For diagonal style square restaurant table setup, You should leave a minimum of 24" space in between corners of the tables.
4. Space between the walls
You should allow a minimum of 48" space between the wall and the tables along the wall. There should be a gap of 18" from the table to the back of the seat, and 30" from the back of the seat to the wall.
5. Incorporating Large Rounds
To incorporate large round restaurant table's layout, it's best to place them in the corner like the illustration below. This saves most of the space.
6. Space between large Round tables
While preparing for a banquet style setup using large round tables, a space of 60" inches minimum between the tables should be left. This is 2 × 18" for the seats, and 24" room between the chairs.
The steward has to understand the unique style of furniture arrangement in the hotel /restaurant /eatery he is working in and has to accommodate himself accordingly.
